Clutch vs no clutch
Does using a manual clutch make alot of difference? Because I use a Microsoft wheel so it's hard to change gear and press a button at the same time.

I use pad so use the A button but when using the wheel it can be a pain so I changed it to just plain manual to help speed things up. But generally the manual with clutch is quicker

It is a nightmare unless you have the £201 for the budget fanatec setup or the £300+ setup which is just with the extra shifters and the better pedals as well which incorporate a clutch pedal as well. Then the shifting is just as quick anyway

I bought a wheel stand pro last week I'm really impressed with it and I can recommend them. I might upgrade to a fanatec later. I wish the porsche one was Xbox compatible it looks very good for the money

It's probably cheaper to get the csr. Looks like I'll have to pimp the wife out for a couple of weeks haha

I'll stick to the controller. Wheels make me slower, but I'm not the fastest as it is

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
To be honest unless you've got pedals with a clutch it's probably faster with a pad cuz its a nightmare trying to press a button and change gear at the same time whilst trying to hold the wheel aswell

Yeah definitely mate. Although if they made the button closer to make it more ergonomical and alot easier to reach

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
Also i read somewhere that there's not much difference between clutch or no clutch when in the R classes. Can anyone tell me if this is true cuz I can't test it?Cheers

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
Im guessing with the R classes having such an upgraded clutch the limiting factor is how fast the computer takes to clutch change and release.
I think human intervention is still needed with the R classes.

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
Yea I've got it back from my brother now but I put all my times in with my wheel and as u know it's impossible to use a clutch with Microsoft wheel unless u have a weird thumb abit further round yur hand (like a redneck) and i cant get anywhere near my times with a pad so it's not a fair test

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
This is a strange one for me. I'm sure that using the clutch would improve my times, but it would probably take awhile to get use to, because I've been using manual without clutch for about 14 years!
I can still post top 500 times, so i'll stick to what I know for the time being.

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
If everyone done this then it would spur the club on massively. In B class it is XBR EGGY that people are chasing after smashing the times set he has managed to put the club with everyone else's efforts to 27th in the world. A lot higher than some renowned clubs we know lol

Re: Clutch vs no clutch
Just want to add onto this topic again, if you don't mind. I love chats like this I was in a lobby with Hayden the other day. Due to me being a drifter and a racer, I use standard manual for a lot of the time. I was in a race using this standard manual setup and I was relatively competitive. If you ask me, faster in corners, slower on straights. Just my spin on it :-)

Just to add here, I use ms wheel with clutch, but changed button layout so that the clutch is on b button, took a night to get used to it, but easy to reach!
